An Easy Homemade Pizza Everyone Can Enjoy

This easy homemade pizza is a simple way to bring pizza night home. Start with homemade or store-bought pizza dough, add tomato sauce, plenty of melted cheese and your favourite toppings, then bake until the crust is golden and crisp.

It is also one of the easiest family meals to make your own. Keep one pizza simple for the kids, load another with everyone's favourites, or put the toppings on the table and let each person build their own. Good food doesn't always need to be complicated to bring everyone together.

Ingredients for Easy Homemade Pizza

  • 1 batch homemade pizza dough, or 2 store-bought pizza bases

  • ¾ cup pizza sauce

  • 2½ cups grated mozzarella cheese

  • 100 g sliced pepperoni

  • ½ red capsicum, thinly sliced

  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced

  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms

Optional:

  • Sliced olives

  • Pineapple pieces

  • Shredded cooked chicken

  • Ham

  • Fresh basil

  • Dried oregano

  • Extra mozzarella cheese

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Heat your oven to 220°C conventional or 200°C fan-forced.

  2. Prepare the bases. Divide your homemade pizza dough into two portions and roll or stretch into pizza bases. Place onto lined pizza trays or baking trays.

  3. Spread the sauce. Spoon pizza sauce over each base, leaving a small border around the edge for the crust.

  4. Add the cheese. Sprinkle an even layer of mozzarella over the pizza sauce.

  5. Add the toppings. Arrange the pepperoni, capsicum, onion and mushrooms evenly over the pizzas. Finish with a little extra cheese if desired.

  6. Bake until golden. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese has melted and started to bubble.

  7. Rest and slice. Let the pizzas sit for 2–3 minutes before slicing and serving.

Helpful Tips

  • Don't overload the pizza with toppings or the centre can become soft and difficult to cook through.

  • Spread the sauce thinly rather than using too much.

  • A hot oven helps create a crisp, golden pizza crust.

  • Use your favourite toppings — the basic method stays the same.
