An Easy Crispy Side Dish for Family Dinners
These air fryer roast potatoes are an easy way to get crispy, golden potatoes without having the oven running for ages. A quick parboil gives them fluffy centres, while the air fryer takes care of those crunchy, golden edges.
They are simple, affordable and made for sharing around the table. Serve them alongside roast chicken, sausages, steak or your favourite family dinner for an easy side everyone can dig into.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Roast Potatoes
1 kg potatoes
1½ tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Optional:
½ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried rosemary or mixed herbs
Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the potatoes. Peel the potatoes if preferred, then cut into evenly sized chunks.
Parboil until slightly tender. Place the potatoes in salted boiling water and cook for 7–8 minutes. They should begin to soften around the edges without cooking completely.
Drain and rough them up. Drain well, return the potatoes to the pot and gently shake them to roughen the edges. Leave them for a few minutes to steam dry.
Season the potatoes. Add olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Add paprika or herbs if using, then toss until evenly coated.
Air fry until crispy. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook at 200°C for 25–30 minutes, shaking the basket every 8–10 minutes.
Serve hot. Remove once the potatoes are deeply golden, crispy outside and fluffy in the centre.
Helpful Tips
Don't skip the parboil if you want fluffy centres and extra-crispy edges.
Let the potatoes steam dry after draining so excess moisture doesn't stop them crisping.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
Cut the potatoes into similar-sized pieces so they cook evenly.
