It’s perfect alongside Samoan chicken curry, butter chicken, teriyaki chicken, or even served with fried eggs for a simple meal. Easy, comforting, and incredibly versatile.
Ingredients for Simple Garlic Rice
2 cups jasmine or long-grain rice
2 tbsp butter or oil
4–5 garlic cloves, finely minced
2½ cups water
Salt, to taste
Optional:
Spring onion, sliced
Fried garlic for garnish
Step-by-Step Instructions
Rinse rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Heat butter or oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add garlic and cook gently until lightly golden and fragrant.
Stir in rice and cook for 1 minute to coat in garlic oil.
Add water and salt. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes.
Turn off heat and let rice rest for 5 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and serve.
