Weekly EFKS Theme:
The Gospel of Matthew: Instructions and Reassurance

📖 Bible Reading:
Matthew 6:1–8
(EFKS Tusi Faitau Aso)

Dear Gen FX,

As Jesus continues teaching, He turns His attention to the heart behind our actions. Today’s reading reminds us that faith is not meant to be performed for attention, but lived out with sincerity.

Jesus gives instruction not to restrict us, but to guide us toward a right relationship with God.

The Reading, Explained

In Matthew 6:1–8, Jesus speaks about giving and prayer. He warns against doing good deeds simply to be seen by others. Instead, He teaches that acts of faith should be done quietly, with the focus on God rather than public recognition.

Jesus assures His listeners that God sees what is done in secret. Our Father knows our needs, hears our prayers, and responds with care.

What This Theme Is Pointing To

These instructions remind us that faith is shaped by intention. Giving and prayer are not about impressing people or proving spirituality. They are about trust, humility, and dependence on God.

Jesus reassures us that we do not need to earn God’s attention. He is already attentive to His people.

Where This Meets Real Life

In a world where attention and approval are often sought after, it can be tempting to measure value by recognition. Jesus teaches a different way — one where faith is practiced quietly and confidently.

Living faithfully does not always draw notice, but it always matters to God.

One Thing To Hold On To

God values sincere faith over public display, and He sees what others may never notice.

Closing Prayer

God, help us to live with sincerity and humility.
Teach us to give and pray with trust,
knowing that You see and care for us.
Amen.

Signing off,
Alofa Tunoa
