A special Gen FX reflection on today’s EFKS message.

Weekly EFKS Theme:
Finding Jesus: Encounter

📖 Bible Reading:
Mark 2:3–12
(EFKS Tusi Faitau Aso)

Dear Gen FX,

Today’s reading shows us what happens when people are willing to act in faith, not just think about it. A man who could not walk was brought to Jesus, not by his own strength, but by the determination of his friends.

This encounter reminds us that faith is often lived out together.

The Reading, Explained

In Mark 2:3–12, a paralysed man is carried to Jesus by four friends. When they cannot reach Him because of the crowd, they make a way through the roof and lower their friend down.

Jesus sees their faith — not only the faith of the man, but the faith of those who carried him. Before healing his body, Jesus forgives his sins. This causes confusion and criticism from religious leaders, but Jesus shows His authority by healing the man completely.

The man gets up, takes his mat, and walks out in full view of everyone.

What This Theme Is Pointing To

This story shows us that encountering Jesus brings freedom on many levels. The man is forgiven, restored, and given a new beginning.

It also shows us that faith is not always quiet or comfortable. The friends take action, trust Jesus, and refuse to let obstacles stop them from bringing someone into His presence.

Where This Meets Real Life

There are times when we are strong enough to walk toward faith on our own, and times when we need others to carry us. In the same way, there are moments when we are called to carry someone else — through encouragement, prayer, or simply showing up.

Faith grows when we choose not to walk alone.

One Thing To Hold On To

God often works through faithful friendships to bring healing, freedom, and new beginnings.

Closing Prayer

God, thank You for friends who help us draw closer to You.
Strengthen our faith,
and help us support one another with love and courage.
Amen.

Signing off,
Alofa Tunoa
