Today’s Reading: Matthew 4:1–11
(EFKS Tusi Faitau Aso)

“Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

(Matthew 4:4, KJV)

This week’s EFKS theme:
The Gospel of Matthew: Christ’s Ministry Begins

A Thought for Today

After His baptism, Jesus was led into the wilderness. Before His ministry began publicly, He faced temptation privately.

Strength was formed in silence, not spectacle.

What This Means for Us Today

Jesus did not avoid temptation, but He did not give in to it. He responded with God’s word, trusting the Father rather than His own hunger or power.

This reminds us that moments of testing often come at the beginning of new seasons. Faithfulness is shaped when we choose obedience, even when it is difficult.

Carry This With You

Hold tightly to God’s word today.
It gives strength when temptation presses in.

A Simple Prayer

God, give us strength when we are tested.
Help us to trust Your word
and remain faithful in every season.
Amen.

Today’s Invitation

Take a moment today to reflect on one area where you feel tested, and ask God for the strength to respond with trust and obedience.
