No human being belongs ultimately to another human being.
What This Means for Us Today
The laws in Leviticus come from a very different social world from our own.
Yet within this passage is an important reminder: Israel belonged to God, the One who had brought them out of slavery.
Power over another person was never absolute. God remained Lord over every life.
Carry This With You
Every person belongs first to God.
A Simple Prayer
Lord, help me recognise the dignity You have given every person.
Keep me from treating anyone as less valuable.
