Today’s Reading: Genesis 17:1–27
(EFKS Tusi Faitau Aso)
“Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham.”
(Genesis 17:5, KJV)
This week’s EFKS theme:
Names: People and Places
A Thought for Today
God speaks to Abram and gives him a new name. What had marked his past no longer defined his future.
A new name carried a new promise.
What This Means for Us Today
God’s renaming of Abram and Sarai reminds us that He sees more than who we have been. He speaks into who we are becoming. Names in Scripture often signal transformation, calling, and covenant.
God does not erase the past, but He reshapes identity through promise and purpose. What feels old or limited is not beyond His renewing work.
Carry This With You
Trust God with the story He is still writing in your life.
His promises redefine who we are.
A Simple Prayer
God, thank You for calling us by name.
Renew our hearts with Your promises
and shape our identity according to Your will.
Amen.
Today’s Invitation
Reflect today on how God may be inviting you to see yourself through His promises rather than your past, and ask Him for faith to trust His renewing work.
