“Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni.”
(John 20:16, KJV)

This week’s EFKS theme:
Finding Jesus: Encounter

A Thought for Today

Mary came to the tomb carrying grief, expecting only loss. She stood weeping, unable at first to recognise that Jesus was alive and standing near her.

Grief can cloud even the deepest love.

What This Means for Us Today

Mary’s encounter reminds us that Jesus often meets us in moments of mourning. Before she understood, before she believed, Jesus called her by name.

Encounter does not always begin with understanding — it begins with presence. Jesus meets us gently, especially in sorrow, and reveals Himself in His time.

Carry This With You

Trust that Jesus is near, even when grief feels heavy.
He knows your name and meets you where you stand.

A Simple Prayer

God, be near to those who mourn.
Open our eyes to Your presence
and speak peace into our hearts.
Amen.

Today’s Invitation

Take a moment today to bring your grief, questions, or weariness to God, trusting that He meets you with compassion and hope.
