Today’s Reading: Genesis 2:19–25

“And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field.”
(Genesis 2:20, KJV)
This week’s EFKS theme:
Names: People and Places
A Thought for Today
In the beginning, God invited humanity to participate in creation by naming the creatures. This act was not rushed or careless, but thoughtful and intentional.
Naming reflected relationship and responsibility.
What This Means for Us Today
To name something is to recognise its place and purpose. God entrusted Adam with this task, showing that humans were created to care for and steward what God had made.
Names remind us that God values order, meaning, and connection. He invites us to see the world not as something to control, but as something to tend with care and respect.
Carry This With You
Treat what God has entrusted to you with care today.
Responsibility is part of our calling from the beginning.
A Simple Prayer
God, thank You for trusting us with Your creation.
Teach us to live responsibly
and to care for what You have placed in our hands.
Amen.
Today’s Invitation
Take a moment today to thank God for something He has entrusted to you, and consider how you can care for it with greater intention and gratitude.
