“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
(Matthew 5:14, KJV)

This week’s EFKS theme:
The Gospel of Matthew: Christ’s Ministry Begins

A Thought for Today

Jesus begins His teaching by speaking about the heart. He blesses humility, mercy, and faithfulness, then calls His followers salt and light.

The kingdom of God is revealed through transformed lives.

What This Means for Us Today

The Beatitudes remind us that God’s values are often different from the world’s. Strength is found in gentleness, and blessing comes through obedience and trust.

As salt and light, followers of Jesus are called to live in a way that reflects God’s goodness — quietly influencing, gently guiding, and faithfully pointing others toward Him.

Carry This With You

Let your life reflect God’s grace today.
Even small acts of faith can shine brightly.

A Simple Prayer

God, shape our hearts according to Your will.
Help us to live as salt and light
in a world that needs Your truth.
Amen.

Today’s Invitation

Look for one simple way today to reflect God’s love and goodness, trusting that even small faithfulness makes a difference.
