In the opening words of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus turns the values of the world upside down.

BLESSED. is the third piece in the Alofa Tunoa Genesis Collection, inspired by the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3–12 and Christ's words of comfort to those seeking the Kingdom of God.

The world often measures blessing by what we possess, how successful we become or how comfortable life feels. Yet Jesus speaks of blessing differently.

He calls the poor in spirit blessed.
He calls those who mourn blessed.
He calls the meek blessed.
He calls those who hunger and thirst for righteousness blessed.
He calls the persecuted blessed.

These aren't necessarily the people the world would place first.

But the Kingdom of God is different.

The Inspiration

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

The Beatitudes are almost an open letter of comfort to those who might otherwise believe they have been forgotten.

Jesus doesn't promise His followers a life untouched by grief, struggle or opposition. Instead, He declares that circumstances do not determine our place in His Kingdom.

The insignificant are significant in His eyes. The overlooked are seen. Those who mourn will be comforted. Those who hunger for righteousness will be filled. Those who endure persecution because of Him are not abandoned.

You may walk through the storms of this life and still be blessed.

Not because the storm is good, but because you belong to Him — and He has not left you.

That is the declaration behind GEN. 003.

The Design

The simplicity is intentional.

One word — BLESSED. — is embroidered in white at the centre chest using the same understated typography that runs throughout the Genesis Collection.

The Alofa Tunoa signature is embroidered subtly in tonal black on the left wrist. From a distance, the message remains the focus; up close, the signature is discovered.
